A massive otafuku gate has been erected at the entrance of the Kushida Shrine. This is the 60th anniversary of the custom at the shrine. On January 24, the iconic face of the otafuku mask, sizing over five meters in height, appeared at the shrine to celebrate the seasonal setsubun festival. Believed to be the largest mask of the kind in Japan, it was first installed at the shrine gate in 1961, hoping to bring more cheer to the celebration of setsubun, where people toss beans to ward off evil and bring in luck.
