Local government surveys of meat suspected to have been contaminated with radioactive cesium revealed the total in Kyushu amounted to 6,368 kilograms as of August 1. The cesium in roughly 80% of that meat was less than the provisional standards established by the Japanese government. About 73% of the meat discovered in Kyushu was in Fukuoka Prefecture.
