A 70-year-old man in Fukuoka was arrested for driving under the influence after he arrived at the police station for questioning related to a previous DUI charge. On July 2, the man drove his moped to the Higashi Police Station, where officers noticed the smell of alcohol on his breath. A breathalyzer test revealed his blood alcohol content was nearly three times the legal limit. He had been called to the station for an inquiry into a DUI incident from June 22. Despite the overwhelming evidence, including the breathalyzer results, he denied the charges, stating, “I was not driving under the influence.” The police proceeded with the arrest due to the clear signs of intoxication.
