Aeon Kyushu Launches Tandem Trucks to Cut CO2 and Address Driver Shortage

Aeon Kyushu began operating 25-meter-long tandem trucks between its logistics centers in Saga and Kumamoto on February 17. Each truck carries double the cargo with a single driver, reducing round trips and addressing labor shortages caused by stricter overtime regulations. The initiative, a first within the Aeon Group, is expected to reduce CO2 emissions by 40%. The project is supported by Next Logistics Japan and managed by Aeon’s logistics subsidiary and logistics firm Logisteed Kyushu. Aeon Kyushu plans to expand operations after evaluating initial results and is considering sharing cargo space with other companies to maximize efficiency. Source: Next Logistics Japan
