South Korean low-cost carrier Aero K will begin operating regular service between Kitakyushu and Cheongju, South Korea, starting September 30. The route will operate three round trips weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays using 180-seat Airbus A320-200 aircraft. With this addition, Kitakyushu Airport will have two international routes, joining Jin Air’s service to Incheon. Cheongju is located roughly 130 kilometers southeast of Seoul in central South Korea. The new route is expected to attract inbound travelers from a wider region. Aero K already flies to eight airports in Japan, including Fukuoka, potentially enhancing mobility for Korean visitors. In FY2024, Kitakyushu Airport handled approximately 1.2 million passengers, a 2% year-on-year increase, with international traffic up 16% to 130,000. Source: Fukuoka Prefecture
