Hawks player Nobuhiko Matsunaka is supporting a team of 30 volunteers from Fukuoka currently in Thailand planting 5,000 mangroves and attending an environmental forum. The volunteers aged 13~67 years old come from two local groups – “Love Green No Tsubasa” and “Kodomo No Mori Workcamp”. They departed Fukuoka on Aug. 16, and will stay in Ranong Province, Thailand, until Aug. 21. Mr. Matsunaka, a popular player of the local Fukuoka Softbank Hawks baseball team, has been supporting the project with donations for the past four years. His wife recently attended a ceremony for the volunteer teams in his place, passing a volunteer team flag and Hawks uniform signed by Mr. Matsunaka to the team leader to take as souvenirs to Thailand.
