Two strong earthquakes rocked the Kumamoto and surrounding areas at 1:25am and 2:04am, Apr., 16 both measuring approximately 6 on the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) seismic intensity scale. A tsunami warning issued but was cancelled at approximately 2:20am. Aftershocks are continuing. People in the area are advised to take precautions.
