Agricultural Production in Kyushu Increases for the Seventh Consecutive Year

According to a report by the Kyushu Regional Agricultural Administration Office, the Kyushu area’s gross agricultural output in 2017 was ¥1,835 billion, and the figure has been on the rise for seven consecutive years. A rise in prices of rice and pork, as well as increased production of beef and chicken, had pushed up the figure while the output of vegetables decreased by 3.4% from 2016. The total amount was a 0.8% increase compared to the previous year. The most significant part ¥500 billion was produced in Kagoshima Prefecture. Source: Nikkei Shimbun, 1/5/2019
