Amaito, a new brand of grape grown in Itoshima recently debuted at JA Itoshima Farmers Market, Ito Sai-Sai. The seedless grape is a hybrid of two types of muscat and kyoho grapes and is sweeter than the conventional kyoho grapes. A group of researchers at Kyushu University developed the grape by 2011 and farmers in Itoshima succeeded in harvesting the fruit after spending three and a half years. Amaito will be available until around the end of September this year. Source: Itoshima Newspaper, 9/12/2019
