ANA and 7-Eleven to Provide Drone Delivery Service to Remote Islands

ANA Holdings and 7-Eleven Japan announced on July 27 that they had signed a memorandum of understanding to start a delivery service using drones in fiscal 2025. The service is envisioned to deliver products from Seven stores on the main island to remote islands and mountainous areas. First, the company plans to offer the service on Nokonoshima Island in Fukuoka City, Japan, and elsewhere. Food and daily necessities ordered through 7NOW, Seven’s product delivery service, will be delivered from stores on the main island to mountainous areas and remote islands. The number of stores and fees when the service begins has not been disclosed. Drone services are expected to be utilized in remote islands and mountainous areas where transportation is inaccessible and may also help solve the serious labor shortage in the logistics industry.
