Sales of Arita ware by the primary merchants for July and August exceeded those of the same months in the previous year, according to the Saga office of the Ministry of Finance’s Local Finance Bureau. It was the first time in four years that year-on-year sales rose for two consecutive months. The increase was attributed to large-lot orders from Japanese-style inns and wedding ceremony halls for replacement items.
