Asahi Glass to Stop Auto Glass Production
Tokyo-based Asahi Glass announced it will shut its automobile glass manufacturing plant in Kitakyushu by the end of the year. Most of the 174 employees will be shifted to a different enterprise or offered early retirement. This is the first major company in the auto industry to completely shut down a plant in Kyushu since the onset of the economic downturn last autumn.
