Asahi’s New Vending Machines Boost Surveillance in Saga Prefecture

The Asahi Beverages Kyushu branch in Fukuoka City, Japan is advancing its plans to install vending machines equipped with miniature cameras in Saga Prefecture. The video data from these cameras will be automatically transferred to the cloud via built-in communication devices. In cases of incidents or accidents, the footage can be provided for investigative purposes, thanks to an agreement with the prefecture and prefectural police. The company aims to install 20 of these vending machines across Saga Prefecture, including in Saga City and Tosu City, by the end of the 2024 fiscal year, with the intent to aid surveillance efforts and crime prevention. To indicate that the vending machines are equipped with cameras, signage will be placed on the top and front of the units. Source: Asahi Beverages
