Asian Black Bears Extinct in Kyushu
Asian Black Bears have officially become extinct in Kyushu despite local groups’ claims of sightings. The last known Asian Black Bear in Kyushu died in 1957. NGO and other groups have said that they will continue to search for the bear in Kyushu. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun Aug 29
