Before a trial run starting November 22nd, a test ride event for an autonomous bus was held near JR Hakozaki Station. The experiment, conducted by Fukuoka City and Kyushu University, aims to address driver shortages. The level 2 autonomous bus follows a pre-set route using GPS and sensors. An operator controls doors and start-stop actions. The bus will circulate a 1.8 km route, free of charge, between medical and commercial facilities near JR Hakozaki Station until December 3rd. President Yuki Saji of the operating company discussed the combination of human and autonomous driving for increased route operations and productivity. Source: Fukuoka City / NHK
