The Bank of Fukuoka announced plans to introduce a new service in January 2018 which will enable customers to make instantaneous payments through their smartphones. Downloading the app will let users purchase goods with their phone at participating stores simply by scanning a QR code, or entering a password. The Bank of Fukuoka is planning to cooperate with the Bank of Yokohama, who has been operating a similar system since early July. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun, 7/4/2017
