Kamenoi Bus unveiled Oita Prefecture’s first open-top double-decker sightseeing bus on June 9 ahead of its launch in Beppu on July 18. The 46-seat vehicle, designed to resemble a traditional wooden bath bucket, will operate three times daily on Fridays, weekends, and public holidays. Departing from and returning to JR Beppu Station, the 90-minute route will pass major attractions including Kannawa Onsen and the Beppu Tower area, offering elevated views of the city’s famous steam-filled landscape. A preview ride for invited guests was held on June 9. Fares are set at ¥3,600 per passenger. Kamenoi Bus also plans to introduce a route linking Beppu and Yufuin later this autumn as part of efforts to expand tourism experiences in the region. Source: Yomiuri Shimbun / Kamenoi Bus
