Fukuoka City-based consumer electronics mass merchandiser Best Denki revised downward its consolidated earnings forecast for the year ended February 2009. The initial projection called for 350 million yen in current profit, but now the company says it will post a 940 million yen current loss. This will be the company’s first current loss since it was founded in 1953. The loss is attributed to the downturn in individual consumption, which has resulted in a 7.8% sales decline at directly operated outlets.
