Bonus Increase for Fukuoka City Officials

The Fukuoka City Human Resource Committee recommended raising staff’s bonuses for the fourth consecutive year to the city council and Mayor Takashima, in order to stay in line with the private sector. An analysis of the 196 city-run establishments that have 50 or more employees revealed that their workers’ average wage and bonus has fallen fractionally below those employed in privately owned enterprises. Once the recommendations are implemented, the average annual income of municipal officials (combined with salary increases) will rise to ¥6.22 million. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 9/12/2017
