JR Kyushu and Fukuoka Prefecture finally reached an agreement to introduce BRT services as an alternative to rail service on the JR Hitahikosan Line. The train route (connecting Kitakyushu City and Hita City in Oita) was hit by severe rainfall in 2017, and some sections remain closed as of today. On July 16, the president of the JR Kyushu, Toshihiko Aoyagi, held a meeting with prefectural governors of Fukuoka and Oita, as well as three other leaders of related cities and towns, and concluded to run BRT along a 14-km route between Hikosan and Hoshuyama (Toho Town.)
