Cashless City Tenjin Project to Start in Fall 2019

Tenjin United plans to launch a new project to make the Tenjin area in Fukuoka City one of the most advanced cashless urban areas. The Cashless City Tenjin Project plans to introduce eight smartphone payment systems to 1,600 shops and restaurants operating in twelve of the member shopping facilities of Tenjin United. It will be the first large-scale project in Japan for different QR code payment systems such as Line Pay and PayPay to collaborate. Tenjin United hopes to launch this by fall of 2019. Four spots including Iwataya and Mitsukoshi will not participate as of now. Source: Tenjin United, 6/5/2019
