Centenarians in Japan Top 50,000 Mark

The Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare reports that the number of people in Japan aged 100 or older had set a record at 51,376 this year. Three of Kyushu’s seven prefectures were in the top ten in the country in terms of the number of centenarians per 10,000 people. They were Kagoshima, ranked fourth, Miyazaki, ranked eighth, and Saga, ranked ninth. Fukuoka Prefecture had the lowest national ranking in the region at 25.
