Chikugo River Bridge Reopens for Pedestrians


The red steel between Saga City and Okawa, Fukuoka Prefecture, designated an important national cultural treasure by the government, has been restored and reopened for use by pedestrians on the 13th. More than 3,000 people turned out for the chance to walk across it again. The oldest existing moveable bridge in the country, it was built for use on the now discontinued Saga JNR line.
