Chikuho Bank Ltd. announced the launch of a new cryptocurrency. The local currency, named Tokowaka-tsuka (Tokowaka Currency) uses blockchain technology provided by Kyushu Electric Power Co. and is designed to stimulate the local economy. To promote the debut of the currency, Tokowaka-tsuka valued at ¥1,000 was distributed to 500 people.
