China Airlines, a leading Taiwanese airline, has announced that it will commence regular international flights between Kumamoto Airport in Japan and Taoyuan International Airport in Taipei starting from September 18. The airline will operate the service twice a week, on Mondays and Fridays. This addition comes on the heels of the emerging Taiwanese airline Starlux, which has already planned to start services on the same route from September 1, making it five round trips weekly between the two cities.
China Airlines will deploy the Airbus A321neo, which has a seating capacity of 180 passengers. The flights will leave Taipei at 2:30 PM local time and will depart from Kumamoto at 6:35 PM.
To assess the demand for regular flights, China Airlines had operated charter flights in March and May of this year. The load factor exceeded 90% in March, when the new passenger terminal building at Kumamoto Airport opened, and about 70% in May. Source: China Airlines / Kumanichi
