China Withdraws From TV Producers’ Forum in Kitakyushu

Organizers announced that China will not participate in the Japan-Korea-China TV Producers’ Forum scheduled for December 9–12 in Kitakyushu. Fifty delegates had been expected, but only Japan and South Korea will now attend, with both planning to increase their numbers. The withdrawal follows heightened tensions after Prime Minister Takaichi’s remarks in the Diet about a potential Taiwan-related contingency, which led China to advise its citizens against traveling to Japan. Kitakyushu Mayor Kazuhisa Takeuchi said it was regrettable to lose a cultural exchange opportunity but emphasized the need for calm and constructive engagement. Source: Mainichi
