Construction has officially started on the “City of Hope,” a welfare facility in Kitakyushu designed to support people facing financial hardships. Developed by NPO Hōboku, the facility will include a restaurant, accommodations, and community support services. Delayed due to funding issues, the project secured financing in late 2024, with construction set to begin in February. Completion is planned for March 2026, with an October opening. Hōboku’s leader expressed hope that the facility will inspire broader community revitalization. Source: KBC / Hoboku
