City To Offer Interest-Free Loans To Exchange Students

On Apr. 22, Fukuoka City announced the establishment of an interest-free loan fund for foreign exchange students attending seven universities in the city. Students who start a business or find a job in the city after graduation will not be required to repay the loans. This is the first such initiative launched by a municipality in Japan, and the aim is to steadily retain young talent for the area. Every year, five students will be selected to receive a one-time payment of ¥1.2 million yen, and the first candidate will be chosen this June. The fund will be operated in cooperation with the Yokatopia Foundation. Source: Sankei Newspaper 4/23 More Details: http://www.city.fukuoka.lg.jp/data/open/cnt/3/43296/1/siryo.pdf
