Colombian Olympic Teams Training in Kitakyushu

On April 16, Colombia signed a memorandum outlining plans for some of their sports teams to hold training camps in Kitakyushu City ahead of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics games in 2020. Colombian Olympic Committee manager Armando Farfan Pena attended the signing ceremony along with Kitakyushu City Mayor Kenji Kitahashi and Fukuoka Prefectural Governor Hiroshi Ogawa. The agreement also aims to develop programs that promote exchange after the games finish. Colombian athletes in 10 different sports, including taekwondo, gymnastics, and swimming will hold training camps. Mr. Farfan stated that he was impressed by the facilities and hopes that local residents will become fans of Colombia. Source: NHK News Web, 4/16/2019
