The Fukuoka National Highway Office under the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transportation announced the completion of the National Route 202 (Kokudo 202-go) bypass. The construction of the 23.3 km route began in 2013, and the remaining 3 km road between the Arita-chuo Intersection and the Makata Intersection will finally open on Jan. 27 at 2 p.m. Traffic of the bypass has grown to more than 1.5 times since 2013 with an average of 20,800 cars running every twelve hours (as of 2015). The completion of the route will improve the safety of the surrounding area as well as create more convenient traffic environment.
