Consumer Activities to be Traced Digitally

Fukuoka Softbank Hawks Marketing and two other companies plan to start in the near future a trial in Fukuoka City in which 500 digital signs will be used to transmit electronic coupons to the cellular terminals of consumers. The coupons can be used to make discount purchases at selected area merchants. This will enable the monitoring of subsequent consumer behavior. The companies hope to use the information to provide a fillip to commercial enterprises. The project will cost roughly 100 million yen.
