Corporate Bankruptcies Decline by 48%

The Fukuoka branch of Tokyo Shokoh Research released their figures for corporate bankruptcies with liabilities exceeding 10 million yen in the Kyushu – Okinawa region in May. A total of 53 enterprises shut their doors, a 48.5% plunge from the previous year and the 16th consecutive monthly decline. It was also the lowest total in May in 43 years. The decline was attributed to the government’s policy of allowing small businesses to suspend loan repayments.
