COVID Infections in Fukuoka Predicted To Subside in Coming Weeks

Dr. Nagasaki, who leads the Department of Infectious Disease at the National Hospital Organization Kyushu Medical Center, predicted that the peak of the current Omicron infections in Fukuoka Prefecture might pass within the next one to two weeks. Reflecting on the recent decline in the number of daily COVID-19 infections in Okinawa Prefecture and experiences of South Africa and the U.K., the spread of infection in the region might decrease if locals stick to the efforts of getting booster-vaccinated, wearing masks, sanitizing hands frequently, and so on. He also added that 25 out of 30 secured beds for the new coronavirus patients were occupied at the hospital as of Feb. 4, but the proportion of elderly patients on oxygen increased. Source: NHK
