Cycle Cargo: Kyushu’s Innovative Bicycle Bus

Starting from April 1st, Kyushu will see the launch of its first bus service that allows passengers to bring their bicycles on board, traveling directly to their touring destinations. The bus was unveiled on March 22nd. In response to the growing popularity of cycle tourism, Nishitetsu is introducing the “Cycle Cargo” bus, a charter service specifically designed for cycling trips in Kyushu. The bus, costing about 4 million yen to modify, can accommodate up to 18 bicycles without disassembly and has seating for 21 passengers. The seats can also be converted into a salon-style arrangement. The bus service is expected to provide a fun experience for passengers, as they can discuss their cycling tour while traveling together. Nishitetsu Travel is currently recruiting for tours along the cycling route that Fukuoka Prefecture has developed from the Onga River to the Genkai Sea. From late March, they will also begin accepting applications for tours along the “Tour de Kyushu” course planned for this fall. Source: Nishitetsu / Nikkei / KBC
