Daihatsu Considering Shift of Development Functions to Kyushu

Daihatsu Motor Co. announced it is mulling the shift its research and development operations now based at their Osaka plant to the Kurume plant of their Kyushu subsidiary starting in 2014. Their plants in Kurume and Nakatsu, Oita Prefecture, supply engines for two of the carmaker’s minicars. The objective of the shift would be to strengthen ties with the production division, shorten development time, and cut costs. Source: Nishinippon Shimbun
