With the help of a new model introduced last summer, Oita Prefecture-based Daihatsu Kyushu sold a record number of autos in the year ended March 2009, and posted its fourth straight year of record high revenue. Car sales jumped 6.3% from the year before to about 310,000 units, and the company posted a 6.7% increase in revenue to 232.296 billion yen. In contrast, depreciation costs associated with the opening of a new factory slashed current profit by 90% from the record high of the previous year.
