Daiichi Group Aims to Reduce CO2 with EV Taxi Fleet

The Daiichi Transportation Industry Group announced that it will introduce 101 electric vehicle (EV) taxis in 2 prefectures and 16 counties, mainly in western Japan, and begin full-scale dispatching. The company plans to add another 100 to 150 vehicles in fiscal year 2023. The aim is to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by transitioning to EVs. Although the range of EV taxis is limited due to the distance they can travel on a single charge, the number of EV taxis in Japan is about 300, and the company is exploring ways to popularize them by developing efficient operation methods.
