Kitakyushu-based Daiichi Kotsu Sangyo says it is planning to equip the roughly 1,000 taxicabs it operates in Kitakyushu and Fukuoka City with special equipment to accept payment using the e-money Sugoca card issued by JR Kyushu and the nimoca card issued by Nishitetsu next March. The company’s cabs in Fukuoka City already accept NTT’s iD e-money card. They are also planning to have their Kagoshima City cabs accept the JR Kyushu Sugoca card for payment in 2011, when the Kyushu Shinkansen is slated to begin service.
