Decision to Mandate Business Closures in Fukuoka on April 13

After reviewing the situation in the prefecture on April 10, three days since the state of emergency began and amidst a continued surge in the number of COVID-19 infections, Fukuoka Governor Hiroshi Ogawa changed his position on the possibility of ordering business closures to “judge the necessity on Apr. 13.” He stressed the region’s weaker financial power to support such a move compared to Tokyo, where the measure took effect as of midnight on Apr. 11. Ogawa explained he would carefully monitor the situation during the first weekend of the state of emergency.  Source: Mainichi
