Details For Subsidies For Local Businesses in Fukuoka Prefecture

Fukuoka Prefecture announced details for its new financial aid programs to rescue local businesses from the impact of the ongoing state of emergency.

1 – Eateries that temporarily close or operate within 05:00~20:00 and stop provisions of alcoholic drinks and karaoke services are eligible for a rent assistance program covering a rate of two-thirds or up to ¥200,000.

This subsidy can be combined with the cooperation-money system of ¥40,000 ~ ¥100,0000 per day. (The prefecture would also encourage individual municipalities to develop additional subsidy programs.)

2 – The prefecture would boost the national government’s ‘monthly aid’ program by creating two more categories. <A> Mid and small-sized companies which suffer sales reductions of 30% ~ 50% can receive up to ¥100,000 (or ¥50,000 for self-employments.) Also, among companies that suffer sales reductions of 50% or more (thus eligible for the subsidy from the country,) <B> liquor retailers whose client restaurants stop serving alcoholic drinks can receive additional support of up to ¥200,000 (or ¥100,000 for self-employments.)

3 – Large-scale commercial facilities (department stores, shopping centers, electronics retail stores, and other facilities with floor space of 1,000 m2 or larger) and shops located inside those facilities can apply for a special subsidy program. Aiding price depends on the floor space of the facility and the number of hours they closed due to the state of emergency.

The prefecture would also boost the local economy by issuing over ¥34 billion regional premium coupons in July and later. Those coupons would have values of 120% of the purchasing prices or more.

Additionally, the prefectural governor, Seitaro Hattori, explained that he would request the national government to develop a large-scale COVID-19 vaccination center in Fukuoka City.  Source: NHK / Fukuoka Prefecture
