Discounted Travel to Areas Afflicted by Heavy Rainfall

Discounted travel offers are being planned to boost local tourism in the areas affected by the heavy rains. The Prefecture will offer subsidies to travel agencies that plan tours, which include lodging or sightseeing in Asakura City, Toho Village, Soeda Town, and Ukiha City. Some hotels in and around the afflicted areas have been damaged but are essentially operating as usual. Despite this, there is said to have been around 11,550 cancellations as of July 20. The Governor also announced plans to offer financial support to the reconstruction of kilns that are used to make the well-known Koishiwara pottery. Source: Mainichi Shimbun, 8/2/2017
