The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport has dropped from the preliminary FY 2010 budget the expenditures for the B Wing of the two national government office buildings to be located near the Kumamoto City JR railroad station. The site has already been prepared for construction. The funds were eliminated as part of the efforts to cut allegedly wasteful spending from the budget, and the potential closure of all local offices of national governmental ministries. The construction was part of a local redevelopment plan, which Kumamoto City Mayor Seishi Koyama says is now thrown into turmoil. The construction of the A Wing is to be finished this fiscal year.
