The Ministry of the Environment announced it will use drones to shoot aerial footage of Japan’s national parks and make the footage available online and to international media outlets that produce programs introducing Japan. Eight locations that are especially alluring to international tourists have been selected for the project and footage will capture each location’s unique qualities; for example, the beautiful autumn foliage at Towada-Hachimantai National Park. The Ministry of the Environment stated, “Until we were able to use drones, the cost of capturing aerial footage was prohibitive. We expect this project to be effective and have a large impact on international tourists.” Source: Sankei Shimbun, 10/28/2017
