The 25th of the month is marked as a memorial day for the tragic drinking and driving accident which claimed the lives of three children in Fukuoka City in 2006. The City has initiated many programs to discourage drinking and driving. Despite these efforts, ten drunk drivers were caught on the memorial eve between Aug 25 and the morning of the 26th.
