Dynamic Pricing Introduced on Kyushu Shinkansen Between Hakata and Kumamoto

Starting in July, JR Kyushu will implement dynamic pricing for internet-only discount tickets on the Hakata-Kumamoto segment of the Kyushu Shinkansen. The “Kyushu Net Hayatoku 7” tickets, previously priced at 3,800 yen for adults and 1,900 yen for children, will fluctuate between 3,400 yen and 4,200 yen for adults, and 1,700 yen and 2,100 yen for children, based on demand. This marks the first introduction of dynamic pricing for Shinkansen tickets within the JR group. JR Kyushu aims to offer more affordable prices and alleviate congestion, enhancing travel comfort. Dynamic pricing, already used in airlines, hotels, and some local services, adjusts prices based on demand, benefiting both users and service providers by optimizing costs and revenues.
