Earliest Rainy Season End Hits Northern Kyushu

The Fukuoka District Meteorological Observatory announced on the morning of June 27 that the rainy season in northern Kyushu appears to have ended. This year’s end comes 20 days earlier than in 2023 and 22 days earlier than the average, marking the earliest end since records began. It is also the first time the rainy season has concluded in June. Temperatures rose significantly across the region on the 27th, with Dazaifu reaching a high of 34.1°C. Many residents were seen using parasols and consuming cold drinks to cope with the heat. Similar conditions are expected on the 28th, with highs of 34°C in Kurume, 33°C in Iizuka, 32°C in Kitakyushu’s Yahatanishi Ward, and 31°C in Fukuoka City. Authorities are urging residents to use air conditioning, stay hydrated, and take frequent breaks during outdoor activities to prevent heatstroke. Source: NHK
