Early Voting Starts for Fukuoka City Mayoral Election

Advance voting is a system that allows voters who cannot vote on voting day due to work or travel to cast their ballot at a designated place in advance. The number of voters who use this system has been increasing. In the last Fukuoka mayoral election four years ago, about 110,000 people, or 9% of the total voters, cast their ballots before the deadline. The period and hours of voting vary from polling place to place, but nine polling locations, including ward offices, will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. from today through the 19th of this month. The City Hall will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from the 12th to the 19th of this month. In order to increase the voter turnout, for the first time in Fukuoka City, advance polling booths will be set up at four commercial facilities in the city: AEON MALL Kashiihama, AEON STYLE Sasaoka, KONOHA MALL Hashimoto, and LaLaport Fukuoka.
