Elder Abuse Reports in Fukuoka Reach Record High

In fiscal 2023, Fukuoka Prefecture recorded 1,356 reports of elder abuse by family members, the highest since 2006. Physical abuse was the most common with 363 cases, followed by psychological abuse and neglect. Approximately 70% of the victims had dementia. The prefecture urged those facing caregiver stress to seek help through available consultation services. Source: NHK
