Elementary School Teacher in Kurume Removes Chairs from Students, Sparks Outrage

It has been revealed that a female teacher in charge of first-grade students at a Kurume City elementary school has been conducting inappropriate instruction, such as taking away chairs from students. According to the Kurume City Board of Education, the female teacher had been instructing her students to put their chairs under their desks. However, on the 2nd of this month, she removed chairs from four students who had failed to follow her instructions after school hours. The next morning, another student’s chair was also found in a different location, causing a total of five students to stand or sit on the floor during the morning class. The teacher returned the chairs to the four students who apologized, but one student did not apologize and had to eat their lunch (consisting of bread and milk) while standing. The teacher reportedly started the lesson without explaining to the students why the chairs were removed, saying that she was “waiting for the students to apologize.” The incident came to light on the 6th after parents contacted the school, and the female teacher apologized to the students and parents.
