Elephants Get Repurposed Gas Pipes as Toys

Fukuoka City Zoological Park received an unusual early Christmas gift on December 10 when Saibugas donated flexible gas pipes previously used for training. Seeking to repurpose the materials, the company offered them as enrichment toys for elephants, which tested them by bending and inserting their trunks without causing damage. Zookeepers said the pipes allow food to be hidden inside, encouraging natural foraging behavior and reducing idle time. Saibugas plans to continue supplying pipes for enrichment.
